Weekly TV Music Roundup (January 28, 2024)

Premiering on Wednesday, January 31, is the FX limited series Feud: Capote vs. The Swans developed by Jon Robin Baitz and starring Tom Hollander, Naomi Watts, Diane Lane, Calista Flockhart, ChloĆ« Sevigny, Demi Moore, Treat Williams, Molly Ringwald, Joe Mantello and Russell Tovey. The show’s original score is composed by Julia Newman (At the Gates) and Thomas Newman (The Shawshank Redemption, Finding Nemo, American Beauty1917) has contributed the main title theme. Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ music this coming week. Also premiering on Wednesday is the Netflix original documentary series Alexander: The Making of a God executive produced by Lucy van Beek & Nick Catliff and starring Buck Braithwaite, Mido Hamada, Will Stevens and Agni Scott. The show’s original music is composed by Taran Mitchell (The Resurrection of Charles Manson) and produced by Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout & Dead Reckoning, His Dark Materials, Black Widow, Bad Boys for Life, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves). Also premiering on Wednesday is the Disney+ original documentary series Choir directed by Rudy Valdez. The show’s original music is composed by Jongnic Bontemps (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, 4400, World’s Best, My Name Is Pauli MurrayUnited Skates, Wedding Season) and DeAndre James Allen-Toole (God’s Country). The Imagine Entertainment and Blumhouse Television production follows the kids of the Detroit Youth Choir, and its director, Anthony White, as they prepare for the performance of a lifetime. The 6-parter will be available to stream exclusively on Disney+

Another show premiering on Wednesday is the Netflix original anime series The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse written by Shigeru Murakoshi and directed by Maki Odaira. Kohta Yamamoto (The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light, Attack on Titan: The Final Season, Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga) has composed the show’s original music. Vap has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past Wednesday. Premiering on Thursday, February 1, is the National Geographic anthology series Genius: MLK/X developed by Jeff Stetson and starring Kelvin Harrison Jr., Aaron Pierre, Weruche Opia, Jayme Lawson and Ron Cephas . The show’s original score is composed by Terence Blanchard (Malcolm X, BlacKkKlansman, Inside Man25th Hour, Perry Mason, The Woman King, Da 5 BloodsRed Tails) who previously scored Genius: Aretha. Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the show this coming Friday. Also premiering in the U.S. on Thursday is the British TV series Three Little Birds created by Sir Lenny Henry and starring Rochelle Neil, Yazmin Belo, Javone Prince, Saffron Coomber, Bobby Gordon, Leemore Marrett Jr, Arthur Darvill and Amy Beth Hayes. Benjamin Burrell (Shortcut) has composed the show’s original music. Banijay Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last fall when the drama premiered in the UK on ITV. Premiering on Friday, February 2, is the animated feature The Tiger’s Apprentice directed by Raman Hui and starring Henry Golding, Lucy Liu, Jo Koy, Brandon Soo Hoo, Bowen Yang, Leah Lewis, Sandra Oh, Sherry Cola and Michelle Yeoh. The film’s original music is composed by Steve Jablonsky (TransformersThe Island, Deepwater HorizonEnder’s GameDC League of Super-Pets, Desperate Housewives, Lone Survivor). 88rising Music has released Zhu’s cover version of Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger from the movie this past Friday. Also premiering on Friday is the Prime Video original series Mr. & Mrs. Smith created by Donald Glover & Francesca Sloane based on Doug Liman’s 2005 feature of the same title and starring Glover himself, Maya Erskine, Wagner Moura and Parker Posey. David Fleming (The Last of Us, Damsel, The Unforgivable, Hillbilly ElegyBlue Planet II) has composed the show’s original music, taking over from Emile Mosseri who was originally announced to score the project. A soundtrack album featuring Fleming’s score will be announced soon. The spy comedy will be available to stream exclusively on Prime Video.
