Marcelo Zarvos to Score Antoine Fuqua’s ‘The Equalizer 3’

Marcelo Zarvos (FencesWonder, The Affair,The Good Shepherd, Ray DonovanEnough Said) has been tapped to score the upcoming action thriller The Equalizer 3. The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Magnificent Seven) and stars Denzel Washington, Dakota Fanning and David Denman. The sequel follows Robert McCall as he finds himself surprisingly at home in Southern Italy, where he discovers his new friends are under the control of local crime bosses and has to become his friends’ protector by taking on the mafia. Richard Wenk (Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, The Mechanic) wrote the screenplay. Fuqua & Washington are producing the project with Todd Black (The Pursuit of Happyness, Being the Ricardos), Jason Blumenthal (Southpaw, The Upside), Steve Tisch (Knowing, Pig), Clayton Townsend (Bridesmaids, Fast & Furious 6), Alex Siskin (Troop Zero) and Tony Eldridge. Harry Gregson-Williams has previously scored the first two installments. Zarvos has collaborated with Fuqua on the narrative features Brooklyn’s Finest, The Guilty and last year’s Emancipation, Quibi’s #freerayshawn and the documentaries What’s My Name: Muhammad Ali, The Day Sports Stood Still and Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers. The Equalizer 3 is set to be released in theaters nationwide on September 1, 2023 by Sony Pictures.

Zarvos’ other recent projects include George Tillman Jr.’s Big George Foreman, which just opened in theaters last weekend, and Calmatic’s White Men Can’t Jump remake, which will debut on May 19 on Hulu and Eva Longoria’s Flamin’ Hot, which is set to premiere on June 9 on Hulu, as well as Roger Ross Williams’ Cassandro, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is expected to debut on Prime Video later this year.
