Music Box Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1966 French/Italian comedy drama King of Hearts (Le roi de cœur) directed by Philipe de Broca and starring Alan Bates, Geneviève Bujold, Pierre Brasseur, Jacques Balutin, Daniel Boulanger, Jean-Claude Brialy, Adolfo Celi and Françoise Christophe. The album features the expanded and remastered original score from the film composed and conducted by Georges Delerue (Platoon, Twins, The Day of the Dolphin, Steel Magnolias, Beaches, Joe Versus the Volcano), including around 20 minutes of previously unreleased music. The CD, which is limited to 1,000 copies, is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out the full album details and listen to audio samples. Varese Sarabande has previously released Delerue’s score on a limited edition CD that also included the composer’s music from Viva Maria! back in 2014. The 4K restoration of King of Hearts (released in 2018 by Cohen Media Group) is now available on Blu-ray and DVD.
The label has also announced a CD version of the soundtrack album for Jean-François Richet’s 2018 historical crime thriller The Emperor of Paris featuring a score by Marco Beltrami & Marcus Trumpp (released digitally in 2018). Click here for more information and to order the CD.
